5 Year Old Jess Kirk watched over by granny Sue and Yara, Galmisdale Cafe's pet, took very seriously her role of having to pick the winning entries for our prize draw out of the 400 + ballots in the Solas Eige prize draw box. She was assisted by 12 year old Teaghdan McCarthy, whose job was to read the name on each paper ballot
Incredibly, the first name to be picked was that of her great-granny, Margaret Kirk, who at 94 is the island 's oldest resident. Jess's auntie Marie phoned her mother, the lucky winner, straightaway and Peggy who had never won any prizes ever, was absolutely delighted, having contributed very generously to our campaign!
3 more islanders also won prizes, Jenna , our Nursery school teacher won the log basket, with Owain and Hilda a signed copy of "Eigg the story of an island" each. Many thanks for your support, Peggy, Jenna, Owain and Hilda!
2 more books went to very close friends of Eigg, Hugh MacKinnon, whose grandparents were from Eigg and is a regular visitor with his brother Donald, and Emily and Joris Pelgrom from the Netherlands. Emily, a well known musician in her country, has been coming to Eigg since she was in her early teens and now visits regularly with her husband Joris has certianly seen the island grow from strength to strength!
The signed copy of the lovely Martin Parr print went to Miranda Thomson and the packs of Eigg pilsner and IPA went to Sally Horton, Simon Thomson and Aisling Ash Brady. We hope you will enjoy your Eigg bier and raise a can to our success to which you so generously contributed!
As to us Eigg folks, we did raise a glass (or 2) to the lucky winners and passed around a box of Celebration sweets which went down very well indeed on that dreich Saturday afternoon!
Thanks again to the wonderful 202 people who made this Crowdfunder such a success!
